Mistake or Lesson | It’s Day 18 Of @joannahawker #meetthemaker
Instagram Challenge and today’s prompt is Lesson or Mistake.
Whenever I’m making a new piece of work, each stage presents a different challenge, a new problem to solve. And with that, I tend to learn more about myself.
Having a will, a patience with the artwork to see it’s process right through it’s end. Each canvas becomes an act of resilience, to not throw in the pan as soon as something goes wrong, but to stick to it and work into what is considered as your ‘mistake’. So that a transition takes place where that mistake turns into something that you love about the work or just improves it’s overall composition.
Building upon layer after layer, until the following layer just happens to be the one you were searching for.
In ‘Soñando en Azsul’ (2019), the process demonstrates everything I’ve just described. But probably one of the most adventurous and rewarding ventures I’ve made within my practice since later last year, when I began to work with colour in my current collection of ‘Transfers’.
