Do you ever feel this way? Most of us do time to time. This was me today. I procrastinated which is very unlike me. I was tired and admittedly I was being lazy. I own it. I’m not making excuses.
I said to my daughter, “I have to get my butt up and get to the gym but I’m feeling like I just want to lay on the couch.” She said to me, “well I don’t feel like doing my homework but I am.” It was almost that slap in the face I needed. It was my reminder that my kids are watching me and it’s good for them to see that I have moments of feeling lazy and I need to push through. I mean, isn’t that what I try to teach them as part of life lessons?! keep going, sometimes we have to do things we don’t always feel like doing?
So I put my shoes on and headed to the gym. It took a while to start, but I finished strong and feel GREAT now! Not only from the workout, but because my daughter also watched me push through, because I kept my promise to myself of going today, and because I didn’t resort to the easy route of being the low-achiever.
Bookmark this post if you need to refer back to this on a day you are struggling. Maybe it’s not just the workout, maybe it’s the nutrition, maybe it’s other promises you made for yourself. Just know that it’s ok for it to not come easy. It’s ok to have your days, but what is the BEST version of you? What choices does the BEST version make?
