Outside the gym but work carries on.
Preparing the route I take with individual client's takes time. - What are their goals?
- What do they truly want to achieve? (Are they confused and repeating words relayed to them by others with limited knowledge of their current state)?
- Is it sustainable for them? - Is their room for progression?
-How do we incorporate adaptations for their biomechanics?
-What are their current eating habits?
Etc.

Personal Training can only be personal if you take the time to understand the person. This is part of the protocol I incorporate in my 8 week courses.

Weighing in today at 99.2kg!
One week off my 16 week evaluation.

The frequency of training has been poor due to illness. I aim for 4/5 x resistance sessions and 2 x conditioning on a good week. Ensuring body parts get trained twice per week while trying to hover somewhere between my minimum and maximum effective volume for the target areas each session.

I have adapted my diet accordingly by reducing calories when unable to train and cycling carbohydrates.
I've also increased vitamin C & D as supplementation to compliment whole foods, tried to optimise the omega 3:6 ratio and limited too many further inflammatory products, e.g. dairy.

Sometimes it takes as little as one sacrifice per week as a catalyst for change.

Now, I hear a lot of whining about people not being able to reach their fitness targets.

Things like: “There’s temptation all around me”
“I was being lazy” <- That’s called an excuse, fam
“I have no time”
“Nothing works for me”
“I can’t stay consistent”
“I’m too tired”
Etc, etc.

Right, these are excuses.
.
Excuses you invent to make not doing something acceptable.

I want you to really dig deep and find the reason you want the body of your dreams?
.
Why do you want to be SHREDDED?
.
Why do you want to be JACKED?
.
Find that deeper reason.
.
Focus on that reason and keep it at the forefront of your thoughts daily.

Take me: Why do I want to be a shredded 85kg 5”10’ beast?

Cause I had massive insecurities when I went through that “coming of age” period at school.

I feel my true personality and happiness only becomes natural when I’m confident and I’m confident when I look the top of my game.

I feel like I am a credible source of information for my following and feel important when in great shape.

I personally feel I deserve to be listened to whereas when out of shape I feel like an imposter to some degree.

I also like it when girls give the ol’ second glance and I have to give them their eyes back… 😉

But going back to the reason why.

Think.

What is your reason for wanting the physique everyone aspires to have? More importantly you aspire to have?

Ask yourself the reason why over and over again until you finally pinpoint the reason why.

When you know why you start becoming accountable to your decisions.

Your motivation is intrinsic the most powerful kind.

Jeder Trainingsplan muss individuell gestaltet werden. Nachdem die ersten Wochen der Gewöhnung mit einem modifizierten #ganzkörpertraining ganz gut gelaufen sind, mache ich nun mit einem #splittraining weiter.
Dabei habe ich meine ganz persönliche zeitlichen Möglichkeiten, meine Toleranz und meine Equipment berücksichtigt.
Ich will die Muskelgruppen jeweils nur so oft wie nötig stimulieren - nicht terminieren (wie @karsten_pfuetzenreuter immer so schön sagt). Ich bin gespannt ob das grundlegende Konzept des 4er-Splits, das gestandene Bodybuilder (wie @markusruehl) empfehlen und nutzen, auch bei mir völlig ohne Supplements und Erbsensuppe_plus funktioniert. Du kannst es live mitverfolgen.

Auf alle Fälle wird das Training abwechslungsreicher, was einfach noch mehr Spaß macht.

Soweit die Planung... jetzt muss ich aber erdtmal wieder gesund werden.

This will go down as another miss 😔 but I didn’t miss by nearly as much by really keeping an eye on it. Bulking update, I’ve been bulking since thanksgiving day and I’m now sitting about 195 pounds and started from about 175 pounds so I’ve gained quite a lot but the PRs are getting crazy, finally hit 315 bench for two reps. Another successful day at the gym. Didn’t think I was going to make it in today between work and mom duties. But before I left for work I told myself, pack your gym bag. Just in case! So I ended up doing some scap work/arms and legs! Those are the two things I want to strengthen the most overall. When it comes to building muscle, I would put sleep as 1/3 of the most important steps.
-
Sleep, calorie surplus, and training are the top 3 criteria’s to building your ideal physique.
-
The reason why is because even if your training and calories are on point, you won’t grow muscle without proper recovery.
-
Your muscles are broke down in the gym, then grow and rebuild outside of gym with good nutrition and recovery (sleep).
-
Try to get anywhere from 7-9 hours of sleep a night and you will have 1/3 steps checked off your list to building your dream body.

We all know that you shouldn’t gain weight on a bunch of junk, but going too far in the other direction can cause problems too. Especially, if you’re under the misconception that brown rice is healthier for you than white rice. Or that you have to eat nothing but whole grains and oats to keep things “clean.”⠀⠀

​​Rarely does going "all in" on any one food group or dietary strategy pan out. There are pros and cons to nearly every type of food. For example…⠀⠀

While whole grains have been associated with health benefits, they also contain "anti-nutrients" (the plant's natural defensive mechanism to discourage consumption) which can affect your absorption of certain nutrients.⠀⠀

Plus, they can cause digestive issues for some and leave you feeling bloated and gassy.⠀⠀

So if your line of thinking is whole grains = good, so I'll just eat all whole grains, always, you might be WORSE off than if you varied your carb sources a bit more.⠀⠀

Personally, as a #hardgainer and someone who has to eat a TON of carbs on a massing phase (500+ grams), my weapon of choice is white rice. It’s super easy to digest and goes with anything.⠀⠀

BEING SKINNY DOESN’T HAVE TO MEAN BEING WEAK!
Being weak is a mindset! You’re not weak just because you’re not looking as big as atheletes or bodybuilders you see!

Yeah there’s nothing wrong with wanting to grow physically and get muscular. But doing so just because you feel inadequate or weak isn’t the right mindset to have.
Being strong doesn’t mean being able to squat 400lbs or bench 250lbs or anything of that nature. While being able to do these things is impressive and awesome, being strong means so much more.

Being strong is being able to get up everyday and push towards your goals despite the resistance you face everyday. Strength is not stopping when you struggle or stumble. It’s being able to lift yourself off the ground and moving forward!
So yeah you might not be able to lift as much as your buddies or others at the gym, but you’re strong in your own right. Remember that!

Before starting the gym how do you manage your expectations?
The journey to your ideal body is not a straight one. There will be weeks your weight goes up and weeks it goes down. But overall you should see a steady increase. There are so many factors that impact weight beyond diet, including genetics and lifestyle. It's best not to get too bogged down in this. If you are doing everything you need to gain weight, then you will. Time and patience are the key.

After all...trying to lose weight means you have to not eat as often right? Wrong!

Getting in protein every 3 or so hours keeps your body from burning the muscle you just worked so hard on. Protein will help your body burn fat while increasing lean muscle.

The TYPE of protein is also very important depending on if it is for everyday meals/snacks or post work out.

Post workout protein needs to be a Hydrolyzed Protein Isolate for fast digestion to aid in recovery as soon as possible. This is the only supplement that will be superior to a good whole food source as it is very fast digesting.

Other protein should come from a whole food source, but if time and convenience is an issue; go for a high quality protein powder or bar!

2 METHODS TO BUILD MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF MUSCLE [by ]

If you want to build muscle it comes down to ONE MAJOR thing…”Progressive Overload”.

In simple terms, progressive overload is gradually increasing volume over time. (More sets, reps, weight, etc.)

However, that doesn’t mean getting a pump isn’t important. That just means it shouldn’t be your main focus.

If you are getting stronger you will build muscle. If you are getting stronger and getting a pump, that’s even better.
.
To achieve both, work on strength in the beginning of your workout and then focus on getting a pump towards the end. OR split your training up into “strength” days and “pump” days.

✅ A good amount of foods have protein in them, but the crucial aspect in achieving your optimal intake is in consuming foods with especially high amounts of it, but with lower amounts of other macros ⬇️

👉🏼 For example, lean chicken usually has somewhere around 20g of protein per 3-4 oz, typically with no carbs and very little fat...

🙌🏼 Almonds are also somewhat high in protein. BUT, would I substitute chicken in my meal with almonds because of that reason? 🤔

👎🏼 Probably not, because not only are they not as high in protein, but they're also extremely high in fat, making them less ideal, since I'd rather use those calories on other foods 🍩

💯 The idea of this chart, which is not ALL-inclusive, but definitely provides some solid options, is to show you how wide of a range you really have in choices for protein, assuming you take all of their total calories/macros into consideration before eating them.

I remember losing 15+ lbs when I started my fitness journey. From 165 lbs down to 150 lbs in 2014. Eating VERY strict, doing CARDIO and training ABS 5 times a week🤣

My ONLY goal then was to be as LEAN as possible and have an 8 pack😂 because I was the small chubby cheeked and fluffy belly kid growing up. Once I achieved lean, I started gaining size over the last several years. Right now you all see me summer ready with popping abs around 175 - 180 lbs, but I’m bulking currently.

Being able to help people all ages, with different journeys in their healthy lives, is a pleasure. I’ve been training my metabolism for years and have mastered the nutrition part of bodybuilding more than training I believe. I can help anyone gain or lose. It’s all numbers, which make sense as to why it comes naturally, as I am an engineer🤷🏾‍♂️ .
People always ask HOW CAN YOU EAT BURGERS 🍔, PIZZA 🍕, and whatever. You can do ANYTHING in moderation. It’s all about learning how to alter your nutritional intake/macros for surpluses or deficits based on your goals. Mix that with the correct training and BOOM 💥💥

They are both great tools in your muscle building toolbox, but knowing the pros and cons for each can greatly improve your training program.

First up… …Dumbbells (DBs). They are:
✅ Safer to go to failure on because you can dump them easily at the end of a set if you miss a rep.
✅ Allow more freedom of movement as your hands are not fixed in place like on a barbell. You can rotate your hands and shift from wider to narrow throughout the range.
✅ They ca help to even out muscle imbalances because you can work each side independently.
✅ DBs are better for high(er) rep work. Don’t test your 1-rep ma DB bench press!!! Getting really heavy DBs into position can waste a lot of effort and pre-fatigue you before a set starts. This is NOT good. For the most part, only do sets of 6+ reps with DBs. If you find your hips popping up off the bencher and that you have to grind out the first rep of a DB bench press…you messed up!

Now let’s take a look at Barbells (BB): ✅ They are easier to incrementally add weight on. You can go up in small increments week to week efficiently. Adding 1.25kg a side is simple enough. Unlike with DBs which generally jump up in 2 or 2.5kg increments per DB. Meaning you are lifting 4-5kg more every time you try and make a jump up in weight.
✅ BBs are great for strength development in compound lifts. This is where they shine! If you want to do some lower rep work then they are an ideal choice. Doing sets of 5 or less is pretty much only advisable with BBs.

To conclude:
❌ Don’t go too heavy with DBs! Sets of 6+ generally 8+ when using DBs is what I do.
❌ Don’t go to failure with BBs without a spotter!
