I love how different this one is than my other one; this is more dense whereas my first one is wild with its leaves growing out every which way. They both have lots of plant babies which I'll give out as gifts in the spring.

Syngonium Podophyllum or the Arrowhead Philodendron has been up there on my ‘most liked’ list lately. I just can’t get enough of it’s leaves looking soo cool. This one has actually been one of my tougher plants to keep but I think he’s starting to come around now and has even been putting off some new growth. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I feel like I always have a period of time where it takes me to figure out a new plants ideal environment. Sometimes plants die during this time but sometimes (like in this case) they survive and start to put off new growth which can only mean that they are happy! I understand there are some african violet haters out there in the plant world. if that is you, no judgement 😉 - just keep scrolling bc I am about to tell my AV story...
I unknowingly bought an african violet last year. (that’s what I get for buying plants without labels) the flowers on it were so unique and so I purchased it anyway. at the time I had no idea what it was or how to take care of it... and bc of that I almost killed it.
after much research and rehab, fast forward a year later and this is what my AV looks like today. there are some older leaves that could probably stand to be trimmed, but it has come a long way! (swipe to see before + after, in reverse order)
I still do not know what kind of AV this is. I’ve been told it is an optimara and possibly an optimara space plant. if it is a optimara space violet I would be absolutely stoked since my grandfather worked for NASA. I was also told those with green in the flowers are unusual and sturdy. it does have some characteristics of the OSV I’ve read, in that it NEVER stops blooming.
💡some tips I’ve learned during this process: AVs should be planted in a pot 1/3 of it’s diameter, DO NOT let the leaves or flowers get wet. water only from the bottom; rain or spring water is ideal. they like moist, but not soaked soil. this plant taught me a lot about really getting to know your plants and how to care for them, and for that I am thankful for you AV! 💚

Hello Begonia lovers & experts, would love to hear from your sharing on the care u would give to these bunch of lovely begonia. We treated them like the other begonia maculata, amphioxus, begonia cane varieties we have at home, so we are hoping that we are doing the right thing for them too.

They are potted in a ratio of 60%- 70% soil, other mix were rice husk, pebble wash & pumince mix. Placement at bright area & we mist them once to twice daily. Our humidity indoor is always at 80. We do use grow light for #begoniaboweraetiger as we noted it improves foliage color than those Bowerae Tiger that aren't under grow light. Same for the silver leaf begonia which we got the name as 银海棠 from Taiwan.

Thinking of undergoing a massive jade propagation project! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have so much fun testing out new plants to propagate so we’ll see how this one goes! Jades are pretty slow growing though, so this time I might invest in the @miraclegro rooting hormone to see if that speeds up the process. I have a couple tips for you if you want to try it out. These are what have worked for me so far. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• make a clean cut at the base of the stem and remove the last 1-2 leaves ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• I let the cutting dry out for a couple days until the cut has callused over ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• then you can pot it up and keep the cutting in well draining soil but on the moist side for the first few weeks ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Valentine’s Day is no joke in the hospitality industry and I’ve had the worst anxiety this week while we prep for the big day.

This morning, I was supposed to appear live on our local news channel! The plan was to build a couple of our cocktail specials while Chef grilled a massive tomahawk steak for a quick Valentine’s Day dinner segment. This California storm however caused my 15 minute drive to turn into a monstrous TWO HOUR commute and I missed air time! BUMMER!
