Yesterday we ran during a small break in the storm before it was too deep to need snowshoes. 🌨

As I showed in my stories last week I have a little equipment at home for workouts. Just a few dumbbells, a bench, and a weighted bench and an ab wheel are very valuable. ❄⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Running in the snow is like sand - a calf workout! Haha
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We went about 5 miles. Ran out and walked back discussing the problems of the world and our country right now! Thinking out our small part.

Per Placer County Sheriff:
Tahoe and Truckee are in whiteout conditions. All roads leading in and out of the basin are closed. S/R 267 is so deep that plows can no longer plow. They have ordered up a large blower to try and clear the pass. MT Rose Highway is closed due to snow. I80 in both directions is closed. Stay home until the storm passes.

Truth? I was done 10 miles ago. That hurt!!
My last chest workout before going in for my top surgery and hysto. Surgery in six days, and I'm nervous, scared, nervously excited. I'm just a huge ball of emotions. I think I am most worried about the fact that I'm out of the gym for 2-3 months. :( But I gotta heal properly before putting my body back to work. 2018 was rocky towards the end, but 2019 is looking fantastic. I have a ton of self-exploration to do, growing up, and living life in the fast lane with no regrets. I'm getting what I need done to finish my transition, getting a new car shortly after surgery, and going to do some traveling.
Another day closer to summer is what I’m thinking😇

I don’t know what it is but I get an entire different feeling when the sun is out! Its a completely different mood and energy level ☀️

So fast forward to my mid-thirties, oh ya, I’m the 34 year old still wearing a retainer at night. My teeth seem to shift as soon as I stop wearing these damn things. I’ve even grown a little self conscious of my smile. I want to own it, but I’d love ❤️ to feel more confident about my teeth and ditch then the retainers for good. ⁣⁣

Over the last few months I've heard from a lot of good supportive people and I appreciate it very much.

One thing I hear from time to time is some variation of "I don't think I'd have your strength" or "I don't think I'd have the strength to go through what you're going through.

To be honest, I'm not that strong mentally.

It gets to me, if not daily, then weekly. I have moments where I totally break down. I've had thoughts that I can't keep going through one punch in the face after another. Thoughts of I just want to quit.

But I don't quit. I do take the next punch in the face. I do keep going.

And you would too. You have strength you aren't even aware of yet. Trust me.

And here's the key. I HAVE NO OTHER OPTIONS. BE STRONG, KEEP MY HEAD UP AND KEEP GOING. MY ONLY OPTION IS TO FIGHT UNTIL I WIN. PERIOD!! And you would too. I don't have a wife and kids but I'm very lucky to have my parents for great support, extended family and friends. If you have a spouse and kids you'd really have more to fight for. Even more reason to live.

I often hear entrepreneurs say, go all in, don't have a plan b. I'm a very risk averse person so I aways thought that was bs advice, everyone needs a fallback position.

But maybe they are right. If you want to make it as an entrepreneur, a business man or woman, maybe you have to have no other option but to succeed in your dream.

Maybe that's where the fight comes from to win.

You have mental and inner strengths you haven't even seen yet.

I believe everyone in life will face 3 or 4 life changing events, decisions, battles which could change the course of their life dramatically.

Those are the moments you'll find your true strength. Not the mundane strengths like I don't want to get out of bed today or I don't want to go to the gym. No. Real shit. Real life altering moments.

That's where you'll find your real strength and toughness.

And you'll fight. And you'll #wintheday one hour, one day at a time.

I live and find my strength minute to minute, day to day.

And so will you when needed.

We have no other option.

270 3x5! The last set kicked my ass. It took every ounce of “give” I had in me to get all 5 but I powered through and nailed it. Afterwards I had to sit down for nearly 5 min to recover, lol.

These last few weeks I’ve really been able to see the benefits of pushing my strength up but at the same time I’m starting to feel the effects of the lack of “conditioning” and muscular endurance work. While on one hand I definitely driving larger muscle bellies and recruiting more “stabilizer muscles”, I can’t help but have a huge desire to work on my working capacity with these high weights before going much further. I think once I’m at the “Category 3” level using the Starting Strength charts on squats and deadlifts (285 & 333 respectively) I’m going to working up to a 3x15-20 protocol using said weights while still using the Starting Strength approach for bench, overhead press, & power clean until I’m at those “Category 3” weights.

Finding the fitness “protocol” that you enjoy or drives you to be better is important. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, you are much more likely to skip workouts or simply give up. No matter what your approach to fitness though, it should include at least some very basic weight lifting as this heightens the metabolic “tax” on your body, which helps you burn off excess calories and body fat. If you’re just starting out with weight lifting (or just getting back to it), I HIGHLY recommend utilizing the Starting Strength program as it’s a linear progression program that has been proven time and time again to build a solid base of strength that helps you become a better version of you. I am grateful for being able to be open with people. Many of the subjects in our lives that we “can’t” talk about control us. We avoid them so much that they become our main focus. Instead, being able to express our truths to ourselves allows us to better understand the subject. The fear behind it dies down and eventually are we are left with are facts. These facts no matter how hurtful are never as painful as the story we make up in our minds about them. Being able to open with my truths allows me to own them and thus limits their power over me.

Something that I started to do years ago was a gratitude calendar

I used to just wake up and start my day not really paying much attention and basically being subjected to feel whatever the day had in store for me

This gave the chance for negativity to creep in if things didn’t start great

So I started doing this instead. In order to start everyday on my terms and happy I started to write down one thing that I was grateful for. I wrote Something that made me feel good about life. It let me be overcome with happiness and that’s now how I start everyday

Executing pull ups at full extension is often overlooked. Shortening the range of motion can be good for maintaining constant tension but unfortunately for me, it destroys me elbows.

If pull ups are my primary back movement for the day I’ll do them unassisted. Shown above is me using a resistance band because I had just finished my dead lift set. .
Using bands or an assisted pull up machine are great for beginners or for coaches and trainers to help their clients build up to full pull ups. .
If pull ups aren’t in your strength program, your coach/trainer is doing you a disservice. Ask for them, execute them, and grow. .

Good healthy food does not have to be difficult to make. My goal when cooking is to use as few dishes as humanly possible. This meal was a one pot meal.
First I melted some Kerigold butter to sauté shiitake mushrooms with balsamic vinegar. Once they were done cooking I scooped them out of the pan and on to the dinner plate. Next I added a dash of olive oil and diced garlic, once the garlic is fried you add spinach until it wilts. Once it’s wilted fish the spinach out onto the dinner plate. Last melted a little more butter and then pan fry the Top Sirloin.
This took a total of 10-15 minutes. And my dirty dish count was as follows:
1 deep dish frying pan
1 knife
1 cutting board
1 spatula
1 dinner plate
1 fork

Well, here is my 26th day progress photo and I’ll also add that besides stepping out of my comfort zone to share this progress publicly, I Know that I’ve improved a lot since before I started and I have exactly 30 days left to put foot to ass before I win the #1stphorm #myTransPHORMation Challenge.

I have been sharing my progress with thousands of people that are apart of a secret group on Facebook and van upon a comment where an individual was talking about how uncomfortable it was to share it out to those close to them (Friends & Family) and someone said “if you have the courage to share to thousands of strangers then why be uncomfortable to share with those who knew you personally “ that same individual went on to say, People will always talk negative and try to put someone doing good things down only to justify their lack of effort. That was Powerful.

Yes, we have those around us that show us tough love and believe we can become our best and sometimes the truth may hurt but we must learn the difference from Negativity & Constructive Criticism.

I will not get off track as far as I allowed myself to get. However, I believe 2019 is the year for me to get into the best possible shape that I can get into and I’m glad this @1stphorm challenge lit a fire 🔥 under my ass. Oh! And by the way, on DAY 1 I weighed 286.0, today DAY 26 I now weigh 271.00!

I was craving something sweet this evening so I made my “Homemade Protein Ice Cream” concoction.
1 scoop @1stphorm Level 1 Ice Cream Sandwich

1 cup frozen banana slices

1/2 cup milk (I use Fat Free Fair Life)

2 tbsp PB2

Throw in blender (I use a small 1 serving blender). Mix up until ice cream consistency! Then I drizzled chocolate syrup on top and of course, added sprinkles, because SPRINKLES make everything better!! Delicious, especially when craving something sweet!

My ultimate goal is 215 with a body fat percentage of 10 to 12. To be completely honest I’m struggling right now to reach these goals. I will reach for and achieve these goals in the future! It’s been a little over 8 months since I decided to make these changes and although I did see and feel results very soon after starting, I’m still getting even better ones each month ☺️

Most recently I’ve discovered that I am able to look at the components of a meal and pick the parts that make a complete macro meal pretty darn close to the gram without MyFitnessPal and that’s such a great feeling because I truthfully don’t want to track macros forever. It’s just not sustainable for me. My current goal is to track until summer time and then learn to intuitively eat and I’m feeling very confident about my ability to do that!! ❤️❤️
