Today’s workout of the day is brought to you by the better B as in BOSU. If you your gym doesn’t have these you need to get someone in charge to order them!!! They are such a great piece of equipment to use for a killer workout!! I love the fact that it’s so versatile and that you can use both sides up!!! They are great for balance training and work well with any type of HIIT or Tabata style workout. Do each exercise here back to back for about 12-20 reps!!! A recent EMG study out of Fresno State compared the muscle activation differences between 6 different core exercises. The purpose was to compare the overall recruitment of the rectus abdominis muscles, external oblique, and rectus femoris (quads) during the traditional abdominal crunch, a plank (traditional and suspended), mountain climber plank (traditional and suspended) and a suspended plank with a knee tuck.⁣

Their results indicated that the suspension knee tuck (which is one of the many exercises within Crunchless Core) produced significantly greater overall muscle activity than the other exercise conditions.⁣

It was also concluded that for individuals wanting to develop the abdominal musculature, suspension training and all plank variations (traditional and suspended) would be more effective exercises to use than the traditional abdominal crunch.⁣

So that burning sensation you feel from doing endless crunches does not deliver the results you want. In fact, it misses your core altogether. It might hit the muscles on the surface but the negatives far outweigh the positives and this research study proves it!⁣

Combining the unwanted flexion of your spine with the added limited range of the crunch does nothing to strengthen or shape your rectus abdominal muscles, your transverse abdominals, or your obliques. It might feel like it’s working but EMG testing proves its ineffectiveness.⁣

Had a nice workout today.
Since both @josh_brewer96 and I are having problems with our knees at the moment, we decided to focus on core!
We played it by ear today and didn't focus on reps or sets. Today was more of a recovery day.🙃 Trying to ease back into explosive workouts. ✨First move: Bear crawl🐻 these are killer and tbh going backwards is 10x harder😭 ✨Second move: Dead bug 🐞 I was focusing on keeping my back glued to the ground. No back arches over here 💃 BUT my shins were not parallel to the ground when they SHOULD'VE been. Oops🙈 ✨Third move: Single leg lifts. Also making sure my back stays glued to the ground. The flex and point feet were just cause I wanted to🙃 ✨Fourth move: Russian twists with bounce ball. The obliques were on fire🔥 and slamming that ball made me feel powerful😎

You don't even need much equipment! The ball could be traded out for basically anything you can hold. Just don't bounce a dumbbell😂

😁Hey guys! So todays exercise is abdominal leg lifts, i'm doing 3 sets of 25 reps with no weight! This kills my abs after my whole workout i make sure and do this at the end to...not only build up my core strength but to also build up my core endurance especially when playing a sport like soccer which is very demanding on your core!


⚽️Why is your core so important?
Well your core is one of the strongest sets of muscle groups that control your other limbs such as your legs arm and neck, your core is envolved when making any type of movement and each individual abdominal muscle is strong enough to not only do those simple tasks but to also adapt and strengthen when playing a sport like football!

Let’s talk progression.

What is something that you are working to accomplish or have recently accomplished? A push up? A 5K? Adding weights to your drills?
Executing just ONE of these straight leg lifts has been a mini-goal of mine. I couldn’t do these a year ago. They are still hard for me today. But I kept trying & I kept failing, until that one day when I didn’t. 😊 I’ve never expected overnight results & I certainly haven’t gotten them.

You have to manage your expectations or you are setting yourself up for disappointment. There isn’t a magic PILL or DRILL 🤷🏼‍♀️ that will transform your body.
It takes time.

Lots of it.

Be okay with that. Keep a marathon mindset.

And enjoy the small victories along the way. 💪🏻

A recent EMG study out of Fresno State compared the muscle activation differences between 6 different core exercises. The purpose was to compare the overall recruitment of the rectus abdominis muscles, external oblique, and rectus femoris (quads) during the traditional abdominal crunch, a plank (traditional and suspended), mountain climber plank (traditional and suspended) and a suspended plank with a knee tuck.⁣
.⁣
Their results indicated that the suspension knee tuck (which is one of the many exercises within Crunchless Core) produced significantly greater overall muscle activity than the other exercise conditions.⁣
.⁣
It was also concluded that for individuals wanting to develop the abdominal musculature, suspension training and all plank variations (traditional and suspended) would be more effective exercises to use than the traditional abdominal crunch.⁣
.⁣
So that burning sensation you feel from doing endless crunches does not deliver the results you want. In fact, it misses your core altogether. It might hit the muscles on the surface but the negatives far outweigh the positives and this research study proves it!⁣
.⁣
Combining the unwanted flexion of your spine with the added limited range of the crunch does nothing to strengthen or shape your rectus abdominal muscles, your transverse abdominals, or your obliques. It might feel like it’s working but EMG testing proves its ineffectiveness.⁣

And if it’s true strength and power that you’re after, the crunch is an ineffective exercise that actually provides no function to the body.⁣
