I never hated the woman on the left. I just dismissed her needs for so long that I had forgotten what her needs were.
Finding time - scratch that, CREATING time for myself to move my body was step one. I started with videos, did that from home with zero form (and pretty much zero results). I hired a personal trainer to come home but that was so inconsistent that again, results were minimal. HOWEVER, what I learned from my trainer was that I had to work on my FORM to yeild results that I was looking for.
Armed with that knowledge, I reluctantly joined a studio which focused on alignment, proper form and community. Now I had added the element of fun, social interaction with supportive like minded people, and consistency. .
The rest is history.
Well, not really.
The rest is consistent hard work, getting up early when I don't want to, going out in inclement weather, carrying extra bags full of gym clothes, preparing meals, planning (oh the planning!), balancing responsibilies (when it would be 'easier' to skip the workout), and of course - doing the work.
You can't outsource movement.
Only you can connect your breath to your movements. Only you can think of a muscle and contract or relax it. Only you can carry the weight, grip the bar or handle, push or pull yourself in the direction of your goals. Only YOU. .
