CHEAT MEAL. HOW OFTEN?⁣
Very important information for the weekend. Save it 🚩⁣

👌🏻🍩It’s okay for your body to occasionally encounter and have to deal with a dietary stressor, as long as it is provided with nutritious, healthy and homeostasis supporting foods the vast MAJORITY of the time. ⁣

👌🏻🍩When you do choose to consume something that you know is “bad” (or not optimal), realize that your body’s entire electro-chemical balance and homeostasis will be upset for several hours (usually 8-12 hrs). ⁣

✅HOW OFTEN?⁣
Since even a minor indiscretion will set your body’s health and healing potential off for several hours, it makes sense to limit the frequency of such metabolic stressors to no more than a 1 time per week.⁣
Planning ahead, setting and writing goals, along with committing to the plan, are vital to overall long-term success. This may be on special occasions and/or to periodically ⁣
“reward” yourself (not that eating poorly should be considered a reward)⁣

✅HOW TO OPTIMIZE METABOLISM? ⁣
30 seconds of intense exercise before you eat or 30-40 minutes walk afterwards will boost your metabolism and most of your food won’t be stored as fat but used for energy ⁣

It’s the home stretch and stretches like these have made all the difference. 🤗⠀

These moves help alleviate lower back and hip pain, which is common place during these final few weeks as baby prepares for his journey into the world. I recently started wearing a belly band as well which has helped reduce joint pressure. 👍🏻⠀

1- Hip circles (all day, everyday)
2- Side stretches (stay grounded and reach opposite hip toward the floor)
3- Spinal decompression/low back release ( literally my all-time favorite stretch - elongate your spine and pull your hips back as you connect to a stable surface...if you don’t have a barre to use, opt for a table, chair or the back of the couch) ⠀
4- Windshield wipers (Let your belly move with you, & be mindful of how you lie down and get up, use your arms instead of your abs) ⠀

Oregon Trail was an educational computer game and staple of 90’s childhood. It showed what settlers traveling from Missouri to Oregon might’ve experienced in the 1800s—like rattlesnakes and small pox.

The overall game play was ok. But the real draw was hunting so much buffalo meat the game would scold you for not being able to carry it all.

This focus on optimization is one of many similarities to the quintessential fitness journey.

Early in my career, a client would inevitably have an occasional lapse in judgement. They’d be cruising along like a wagon on its way to Oregon and hit a skid.

A skipped workout, a weekend of overindulging, an open bar tab gone astray. These things happen.

Much like broken axles occur when you travel the country by covered wagon in the 19th century.

Instead of shrugging off the mini deviation, my client would tailspin out of control. One small cheat meal became a week of poor eating.

This is known as “Falling off the Wagon.”

These prolonged backslides were actually a self fulfilling prophecy. It would start with an innocent cheat day. From there, my client would mentally beat themselves up for giving in to temptation.

This is where the issue was.

Instead of jumping back in the ring the next day, the slide would continue. “Screw it,” went the rationale, “I messed the whole damn thing up.”

Travelers of the Oregon Trail knew its reputation for being a trying journey. They expected roadblocks along the way.

Developing a healthy lifestyle is similar. Although far less dangerous than traveling the Oregon Trail, it’s still fraught with obstacles to overcome.

When wagon axles break, you gotta stop and fix em. When diets go astray, you stop and fix that shit, too.

But, just because your axle broke, the distance you traveled isn’t lost. You don’t go back to Missouri and start over. The same goes for fitness goals. Little slip ups don’t have to be a big deal. You don’t lose much progress with one bad day.

The key is to provide some self love in your moments of weakness. In the words of the great street poet, Eminem, “I took my bruises, took my lumps, fell down and got right back up."
One thing which I have incorporated into my fitness lifestyle over the years is to track my progress. I push my clients to do the same. Weights, reps, diet & macros, whatsoever is the part of your regime. Track it down!

This will help you to know what, when & how something worked or failed in the process. As difficult as it may look, as easy it is. This will make sure that you know exactly how things have affected your progress over the period of time. Thus, giving you a better view for rectifying your errors. So make sure, if you want to be on the right track then learn to Track it!

It’s amazing how much more motivation I get inside me when I look at this little guys face. I don’t see him as a burden or an excuse to use to not move my body. I see him as motivation to move. I have a job to lead by example, to mold the way he sees the world and himself. I take this job seriously.

To see how much he loves the gym and loves movement is the best thing in the world. His face lights up when we get to the gym, he runs around, explores all the equipment, and tries to mimic everything I’m doing in my workouts (or clients workouts lol).

It’s been a crazy week with some gross weather, busy work schedules, little sleep, and our oldest sick with the flu so here’s a throwback to sunnier days this last summer. I’m really missing our days at the pool, endless sunshine, and I might even miss my thighs sticking to the leather seats juuuust a bit. Total fake news because I’m currently sitting on the couch taking a break between cleaning up vomit and diarrhea. 😩BOTH of my kids have the flu and it couldn’t have come at a worse time: being here alone & missing much needed time at work. Getting my nutrients and my energy in!! I am definitely an energy junky. Bc of my stomach issues I have trouble with energy. As I try different things and realize even more triggers it has gotten better, but a working progress.
Idk what I would do without these supplements. I would struggle to get up in the morning & get anything done. 10 Things I Know To Be True In - Life, Business, Relationships, Etc…⁣

Make sure you read all (numbers 3, 6, and 10 are some of my favourites!⁣

1. Be a good person. Its not that hard to have a super enjoyable life. First things first be the good person.⁣

2. Consistency. You’ve all heard it. No one can grow if you’re always jumping around to NEW things. Get GREAT at a couple important things.⁣

3. Be a FREAKIN human on social media. SO many of you act differently online verses in-person. Thats what we call being non-cohesive. People can and will feel this. (This might be why you’re not closing those sales…)⁣

4. Visibility equates to profitability. You have to be “out there” online to make money on the back end. Lots of you are the “billboard sign on the rarely traveled country road”. Learn to be the lemon aid stand that goes to the fair on the hottest day. #gotothetraffic⁣

5. This one is needed to do number 4. Be fearless. Lots of you are simply held back by fear. By imagining things that could go wrong of course you don’t take action. Start imagining (vividly I might add) what would happen if you could not fail.⁣

6. All those cheesy sayings you hate (ie. action drives away fear, its not about resources its about being resourceful, every good coach has a coach) are cheesy because they’re said ALL THE TIME. The reason they are said all the time is because they’re true and relevant. Dig down think about what sayings bug you and you might find thats because you need to become a little more cheesy;)⁣

7. You will only go as far as your mind can believe. I have self sabotaged SO many times because i hit my next internal limit. Wether its financial, relational or any other limit, WORK ON YOUR DAMN MIND. Mindset is not a fad, its the way to be growing always.⁣

8. Read books, listen to podcasts, hire coaches, and BE TEACHABLE. One of the biggest blocks in your life is your EGO. Learn to love learning. Love the art of learning, and get better at it. (PRO TIP) make sure you balance your learning. If you focus just on one aspect you’ll become imbalanced. Learn how to grow as a whole through the different venues.⁣

Before May 1954 the top athletes in the track and field world all believed running a mile in under 4 minutes was an impossibility! May 6th 1954 Roger Bannister broke the 4 minute barrier. Just 2 months later his record was broken. A year later 3 more in one race. Now over 1500 people have run the ‘4minute mile’. Point being, sometimes you need to break down not only your physical barriers but psychological barriers too. Last week I broke my ‘4 minute mile’. Less than 7 days ago getting the 48kg beast overhead was an impossibility. Now it happens when ever I want it to and I’m compounding movements together! Sometimes you feel like it sometimes you don’t - pushing through on the times you don’t is what really makes the difference....

We all have days where we are more tired, we don’t feel like doing anything but laying on the couch watching Netflix. We all also have days where we feel great and full of energy! We are all human, trust me even I have days where I’m feeling tired, drained, and not wanting to workout.

Guess what? Yes some days my mind and laziness gets the best of me, but most times I don’t let it! I fee it’s all in the mindset. If you let your mind tell you that you are “too tired” then you r dog will respond as so. If you conquer your mind and say “who cares if I’m tired, I’m at least going to try” you will win every time! It’s these times that you beat the mind game is what really makes a difference between seeing results and not seeing results! Anyone can do it - you just have to get your mind right!

What helps me beat my mind? Telling myself to at least try....annnnnd I always know I will feel so much better after a workout. This is usually enough to get me moving. Remember your goals, how much you talk about them, and how bad you want to meet them. This should be motivation enough!

At first, 9 months seemed like FOREVER and now I’m trying to figure out where the time went! Pregnancy has its ups and downs, it’s highs and lows, but I have to say that overall I loved this journey. 🤰🏻⠀

Throughout these months I’ve felt emotionally and physically strong and I owe that to being healthy pre-pregnancy, staying active during each trimester, making time for self-care and to my incredibly supportive network of friends and family. 💕⠀

In the past days like this, days that are packed full, and demand a lot from me mentally would tend to get the best of me and leave me drowning in anxiety.
.
I feel more and more like I’ve come into my adult self and to say the least, it’s really nice. My day was planned in advance, I managed my time correctly, didn’t forget the meals I had prepped for myself and things that were out of my control didn’t bother me. I even had fun in the midst of all that needed to get done😳. In the past I would have complained myself into a bad mood. But not today.
.
I was even able to get my workout in. Worked up to a heavy set of 3 split jerks and ended up 5lbs less than my current 1 rep max👏🏼😆.
.
The second video was that lift (I forgot how a camera works in the middle of it all so my head is missing😂) the first video is a second attempt of that lift.

In the first photo ➡️ I was at a music festival with friends- surrounded by drugs/alcohol,

Quick post on hinge positioning.
If you are finding your shoulders hunched and/or back rounded while in a hinge position then try placing a dowel down the centre of your back. You should remain in contact with the dowel at the lower back, upper back between your shoulder blades and back of the head, at all times!
If you then correct this and your knees start to dip forwards and into a squat (pic 2), then practice the hinge with a dowel, with your toes elevated! This will push your knees back and move the shins to vertical. Practice this position unweighted until you feel your back is staying straight. Then move to a deadlift with elevated toes until you’re keeping you knees back and shins vertical. And that’s why you don’t have time for anything else. ⠀

I would call this a priority matter.⠀

You have time for people, ⠀

you work long hours because that’s what you have decided. ⠀

I can’t say don’t work too much but definitely think where you can save time.⠀

Utilise that time to be productive.⠀

We all have 24 hours, it is on us how we spent those hours.⠀
